On our way to Costa Rica, boyfriend and I had a long layover in Atlanta. By long I mean loooooong, as in 8+ hours! Neither of us have ever spent time in Atlanta so we embraced it and decided to take a trip into the downtown.
It ended up to be a really fun day (despite the 100 plus temp!). The public transportation made it easy to get into the city and for a bargain of only $2.00. We walked all through the Peachtree area. Saw the Olympic Park and Olympic fountain (I LOVE the Olympics, in case you forgot!), went to look for news celebs at CNN (but failed), and last but not least visited the World of Coca Cola.
The World of Coca Cola was so much fun, and I highly recommend it if you are ever in the area. Yes, it was mostly geared towards advertising and commercialism, but that really didn't matter to me. There was a little "tour," lots of old coke artifacts that I thought were really cool, and a 4D Motion Ride about what happens after you put your money into a Coke machine, haha. Also, and maybe most important, there is a tasting room with sodas from all around the world that you get to visit at the end. It was very fun.... and I may have tried so many little sips of sugar that I had a stomachache after, but it was worth it. Just don't try the Beverly. Consider yourselves warned.
