Fun and Festivals

This weekend was *SO* busy. My town had it's big annual festival. The festival is huge and includes a carnival, boat races, a 5k, lots and lots of drinking and eating, fireworks and a parade, and a thing called the greasy pole (more on that in a moment). Ejay and I had our college friends down for a day of beaching then some bar hopping. The beach weather wasn't perfect but it was still fun and we had a great time that night!

I love my college friends to death. They are sooo funny and sooo fun! Incidentally, although I'd consider myself a girly girl, most of my friends that I have kept fom college are guys. But they are like my big protective bros and I don't know how I woulda survived college without them. Also, the reason I met Ejay is because he was one of my best guy friends roommate, so that worked out well! : ) It's weird though, during college I did EVERYTHING with them and then we all had to grow up, get jobs, move away from eachother... and etc etc etc. But one thing I absolutely LOVE is that even if we only see eachother a few times a year it is like no time has passed at all and we fall right back into being crazy and having fun. SO having them all down this weekend was AMAZING and I loved every minute of it! Love you guys!

Now, onto a whole new subject. During this weekend long festival in my town there is an event called the greasy pole. It's pretty famous and also pretty insane. Basically, men walk across a greased pole over the water to try to capture a flag on the end to win nothing but glory for the year... it's idiotic but a tradition and oh-so fun to watch. All the men then carry the winner onto the beach and you wouldn't believe how greasy and/or bloody they usually are. I posted a video of it below:

In the namesake of my town, in England, they have a similar "what the hell are you thinking?! event called Cheese Rolling. I have no idea what it is for but it looks as if people hurl themselves down a hill chasing cheese. Who knew THAT could be so exciting?! Here is a video of that:

Pretty interesting, eh?

My jury's still out. Haha.
